Galloway Cows from The Viking Farm
Icelandic sheep are believed to be the same hardy breed brought to Iceland by the Vikings, and they remain one of the purest and most unchanged sheep breeds in the world today. Known for their intelligence, resilience, and striking beauty, they are a true heritage breed shaped by centuries of natural selection in a rugged environment.
They are a unique tri-purpose breed, valued for their meat, milk, and exceptional dual-coated wool. Their fleece consists of a soft inner layer (thel) and a long, water-resistant outer layer (tog), making it incredibly versatile for spinning and traditional textile work. Icelandic sheep are also naturally thrifty, excellent foragers, and well-suited to regenerative farming systems.

Livestock
At The Viking Farm, we offer both registered and non-registered Icelandic ewes and rams to help you build or enrich your own flock. Our sheep are thoughtfully selected for parasite resistance, strong maternal instincts, calm temperament, sound conformation, fiber quality, and overall health. Fiber Products
Our Icelandic sheep produce a beautiful dual-coated fleece, prized for its versatility and connection to traditional textile work. The Viking Farm offers a variety of fiber products from our flock, including yarn, roving, and raw wool. Whether you are a hand spinner, fiber artist, or simply appreciate natural materials, our fiber reflects the unique character and quality of this heritage breed. All these products as well as historical tools for working with them are available through our online store. Meat Products
The Viking Farm offers organic, pasture-raised, Icelandic lamb, known for its clean, mild flavor and excellent quality. Our sheep are raised with care on open pasture, resulting in healthy, flavorful meat you can feel good about. Lamb is available as whole, half, or select cuts.
